The unemployed can apply for contributory unemployment benefit from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) if they have quoted at least 360 days in the last six years. The duration of this benefit depends on the unemployment insurance contributions paid by the beneficiary., the amount of which depends on the Social Security contribution base for professional contingencies. Today, it is not necessary to queue at an office of the SEPE to apply for contributory benefits; it is possible to do it through the Internet.
To request it, you have to enter the SEPE electronic headquarters (sede.sepe.gob.es) y pinchar en el apartado “Personas” on the main page. Below, you must select the procedure “Application and approval of insurance benefits“. This service is available from Monday to Friday, de 8:00 to 20:00 hours, and allows citizens to apply for the authorization of benefits in the form of initial registration, or request the reopening of previously authorized and pending benefits.
How to process unemployment benefit
The requirements of the procedure are as follows
– You must have a Cl@ve system username and password and a digital certificate or DNIe; if you log in with a username and password Cl@ve, you must have a mobile phone and it must match the one registered in Cl@ve.
– Must be registered as a jobseeker in the regional employment service (SAE in the case of Andalusia). Citizens residing in Ceuta and Melilla must be registered in the SEPE.
– If you have not sent your company certificate or its certificates over the Internet, bring the latest 180 days of your certificates.
– Declare your family responsibilities.
Application for the SEPE strike
To start the process, deberá hacer clic en “Iniciar el reconocimiento”. A simple form will allow you to enter all the necessary information to receive your right online. It is also possible to attach the relevant documents electronically. Once all the fields have been filled in, a summary of the corresponding benefits is displayed and the citizen can review the details and sign the application form. If there are no problems with the authorization, a new screen will appear and the documents accrediting the authorization can be downloaded (application form, receipt, resolution).
Form for the processing of an award without prior identification
Citizens who do not have permanent Cl@ve or electronic signature can apply for unemployment benefits using the pre-application form. To access this form, entre en la sede electrónica de la AEPI y haga clic en la sección “Personas” on the main page. Below, seleccione “Formulario individual de pre-solicitud de subsidio de desempleo”.
Citizens have to fill out the form and wait for their benefits to be processed. If necessary, the SEPE will contact them by phone or email to ask them to complete the information or submit the necessary documents.
